Last month I went through the crazy Christmas traditions from around the world; this month I thought it would be appropriate to do the same thing for the New Year.
Did you know that Denmark has a tradition that all unused dishes from that year get smashed against their friends and relatives’ doors. Not sure the “why” of this one, but I think it has something to do with the need for Anger Management classes, or was the brainchild of Corning or Oneida.
In Ecuador, to celebrate the New Year, they burn scarecrows and all photographs taken from the previous year. This might be a good idea for those who take inappropriate photos (or the one showing you shoveling ice cream while everyone else is eating salad). I think that burned scarecrows also bring burnt fields, building, etc…and hot firemen…hey… I might approve of this one after all.
In Spain, if you can stuff 12 grapes into your mouth at midnight, you will get good luck…or a trip to the emergency room is my thought.
Speaking of emergency rooms… (you just knew that I would talk about the benefits of insurance somewhere)…don’t forget that outside of writing your health insurance policies, we also write life insurance policies (in case that grape thing doesn’t work out for you).
Give our office a call and get that quote – after all, it’s only a quote – it is truly more affordable than you think. I’ll also enter you into a drawing for our Made in Nevada prizes.
Speaking of prizes and winners…This month’s winner is Ron Avery, CPA. You too can get included on our monthly contests…just “like” us on Facebook, call for a quote or refer someone to our agency…just like Ron!
Until next month,DSC00111
